The Flying Squirrel, my 1987 S-10 from Winslow, Arkansas. The truck was my first truck, and with the help from my dad, I purchased this truck when I was twelve years old! The truck was originally from Checotah, Oklahoma. After the road trip back to Winslow, the work began. The truck already had a H.O 305, with a few performance parts which my dad and I added, we also scavenged a TH350 to complement the factory 7.5 10 bolt with 3.42’s. Surprisingly, for what it was, the truck actually was salty for what it was! It would spin the tire all the way down the block slapping the B&M Z-Gate all the way through the floor! Then, one day I came home from school and my truck wasn’t sitting on the rally’s anymore, it was sitting on a set of Weld Pro Stars and BFG Radial T/A’s that my dad had bought for me! Then, came time for paint, the color of choice was satin black with red stripes! My dad helped me with the body work, and sprayed the truck for me! The truck really began to pop when the silver pinstripes were added! The truck was ready in time for my fifteenth birthday, so what’d I do? I went drag racing! The truck wasn’t tagged or insured, but I was drag racing, and I was on could nine! I then went again, and made seventeen passes in a row, I was loving it! I drove the truck to school my sophomore year starting out with my hardship, then finally got what I had been waiting for, my license! I actually had the truck taken away the first day of school, before school, I though it’d be a good idea to see what my truck could do! So, long story short, I took it to a backroad that I knew of and it didn’t turn out very well for me! I was grounded from my truck after the first day of driving! It wasn’t long before it wasn’t fast enough anymore! Then my dad and I built the .60 over 350 that currently resides between the frame rails! It currently makes four hounded horse power to the flywheel, and six hundred on nitrous! Not bad for a pump gas motor I drive everywhere! It now has a Yukon Dura Grip Locker, Richmond Excel 3.90’s, Moser Street Strip axles, and a Moser Engineering cover. The Flying Squirrel also has a set of 275 Mickey Thompson ET Street SS’s to hook on the track, and the street! I also just put in a new bench seat with LMC’s reupholstery kit, LMC’s dark grey carpet, a Hurst Quarter Stick with a raised mount, and a Simpson Sport Latch and Link harness! I have so many memories with this truck, and still continue to drive it everywhere!
